The neighborhood of South Maui is made up of two distinct areas, Wailea and Kihei. Immediately upon driving in to Wailea, the upscale homes and beautiful landscaping is noted. Everything is well manicured and an air of beauty and perfection is ever present. South Maui is home to a Four Season’s Hotel, the Grand Wailea, and a new Andaz Hotel. All of the hotels boast phenomenal restaurants for fine dining and an evening out.
Locals and visitors both enjoy the day spas at the hotels—the spas there are known to be phenomenal. The Shops of Wailea has many upscale stores ranging from Luis Vuitton to Prada. Locals make a day trip of luxury and relaxation out of a trip to the spa, high-end shopping, and a dinner at a delicious restaurant. Yearly, film lovers gather for the Maui Film Festival to watch and support up and coming films. Wailea is one of the most pristine and perfect areas on the island—everything is beautiful and perfect.
Kihei is more eclectic and has more of a local feel than the impeccably managed Wailea. Still boasting several shopping centers, apartments, homes, and condos, Kihei is a more local hotspot. Kihei has many little cafes to stop in and grab a bite and enjoy a coffee while catching up with friends. For great food, sushi, stop in to Sansei, a new and very popular spot locals love.
Within South Maui, there are several gated neighborhoods. A myriad of golf courses are available to choose from while remaining close to home.
